This is an on location Home Energy Rating service that we will perform in Western Pennsylvania, Eastern Ohio and Northern West Virginia. It assures new home buyers that the new home that they are purchasing is at least 15% more efficient than IECC 2004.
Benefits are tax savings, easier mortgage qualification, greater durability and Energy savings for the life of the home. In this program we work with Energy Star contractors while the house is being built to assure that efficiency is built in.
This is the most affordable way to make sure that a new home is safe and cost effective. Energy star Buillders are dedicated to building a more durable and more affordable home to live in. The price may be higher but the utility bills will be lower than the average home today.
An Energy Star energy rater helps the builder build a better structure by doing performance testing while the house is underway. This enables builders to correct deficiencies and acheive their objectives. Once the work is done the rater test the house again and turns in a permanent file to the Energy Star provider
Throughout the process the rater evaluates the shell, comfort systems, appliances, combustion appliances, draft, ductwork, ventilation and many other features of the home related to health, efficiency and durability.

On my first new home rating we discovered that the ductwork was not sealed sufficiently and that the attic insulation was not up to code. These corrections were rectified and the contractor will never make that mistake again. To prevent this from happening with other contractors we are now suppliying educational materials to any contractors that sign up with us.

The PA Home Energy Program is a comprehensive service designed to help Pennsylvanians fight the "energy monster".
PA home Energy audits are as comprehensive as Energy Star ratings for new houses. All PA Home Energy providers have been Certified as Energy Star raters and as Building Performance Institute building analyst. The biggest difference between this audit and a new home energy audit is that the opportunity to save money and get assistance with energy improvements is much greater with PA Home Energy.
We will go to your house, perform test and pinpoint the safest most cost effective ways to save energy. We will then offer to help you shop for qualified contractors to perform the work. When the work is done and before it is paid for, we will then offer to test to assure that efficiency objectives were met.
